Tips for Making the Crispiest Pickles
Tips
Whether it's mixed pickles or cucumber pickles, I don't know if it's because the weather gets gloomy as winter approaches, or because we can't eat them in the summer heat as they make us thirsty, but we crave pickles a lot this season. They become indispensable to our tables.
The Secret to Pickle Recipes
You don't actually need years of experience to make crunchy pickles; there are just a few very important tips to pay attention to.
Today, we are sharing the secret and tips for pickle recipes.
1. If you want to make crispy pickles, you should definitely choose glass jars. Plastic containers definitely take away the crispness of your pickles.
2. To ensure your pickles are ready quickly and don't wait for weeks, add 10 chickpeas to a 1-liter glass jar. Chickpeas help your pickle starter develop quickly. Don't think, "I made 2 liters, I'll add 20; I made 5 liters, I'll add 50" chickpeas. Adding 10-15 is enough for the whole batch of pickles. If you are making pickles in 400-500 ml jars, adding 4-5 chickpeas will be sufficient.
3. Add sugar! If you want your pickles to taste like those bought from the market, you should add 1 teaspoon of sugar. However, you need to let the air out of your pickle jar and add the sugar 2 days after you set it up.
4. If you want your pickles to be like the German pickles sold in markets, place a slice of onion cut into rings at the very bottom of your jar.
5. If you want your pickles to have a unique, special flavor, add one uncrushed black peppercorn. Or, add a bay leaf to the very bottom.
6. If you are making cucumber pickles, add a sprig of parsley before closing the jar lid! This parsley will help prevent the pickle from taking in air and will also give it a beautiful aroma and taste.
7. Once you have opened your pickles, you must store them in the refrigerator, not outside. Otherwise, they will become soft.
8. To speed up the pickling process, whether it's fruit or vegetables like cucumbers, they must be pierced in a few places with a thin knife or a skewer. This allows the brine to penetrate quickly, so we can enjoy our crunchy pickles before they soften
9. Never sprinkle the salt directly; dissolve it in water and then mix.
10. When you open your pickles to eat them crunchy, make sure there is no brine at the bottom. If the brine level drops, you must add more water, otherwise, it will mold and spoil. Enjoy your pickles in advance to those who will be making them.
