What is Ozalid Proofing
In offset printing, printing is done on standard-sized sheets of paper rather than as pages from books. Various systems are applied in these stages, and when these sheet papers are folded in the most suitable way, sequentially numbered pages are quickly produced. At this point, the most commonly used unit of measurement is the 'forma'. 1 forma consists of 16 pages, and planning and cost calculations for processes involving many pages are always done based on formas. In montage processes, it involves pasting the films of the jobs to be printed onto a transparent sheet called an 'astrolog', based on the forma layouts. If the jobs to be printed are two-colored, two separate montages are required, and for trichromy, 4 montages are absolutely necessary. All processes with completed montages are prepared on ozalid papers, exposed, and printed in ammonia vapor, serving as the final effective checks before printing.
What is a Plate
After the necessary montage operations, the final step is to perform the necessary exposure processes onto metal plates whose surfaces have been made light-sensitive. With the development of the printing industry, offset printing plates, which are widely used today, are also called ozasol and typ. After the montages are transferred to the metal printing plates with the help of specific lights, they must undergo certain chemical and necessary processes. After these processes are completed, they are made ready for printing with special printing plates. However, these operations should always be carried out by expert and experienced individuals.
In montage processes in the printing field, the job on the montage is transferred to ozalid papers, and these ozalid papers must be folded according to the forma layouts. At this point, the general aim is to check the jobs one last time before plate exposure, to quickly determine if the page numbers follow each other, and also to reduce the risk of errors, which is one of the primary necessary steps.
