Taxi Drivers' Rights in Traffic Insurance

How to Get Taxi Driver Insurance for Part-Time Employment

It is stated that taxi drivers who work part-time should have their social security premiums deducted from their income, and accordingly, taxis are mandatorily insured with traffic insurance. If the necessary taxi license and traffic insurance are obtained, and if the social security premiums of the taxi drivers are also paid within the scope of this insurance, the deficiencies regarding the insurance of taxis will be remedied, and their premiums will be paid more easily. On the other hand, a necessary regulation is being made for commercial taxis operating daily, limiting their working hours and ensuring that at least one driver is employed. Individuals working as public transportation drivers in cities must have an entry declaration for those who work for a certain period in their vehicles, and there must also be a signed contract between the vehicle owner and the driver. At this point, individuals who are taxi license drivers should apply to the social security directorates of the cities they reside in.

Full-Time Driver Insurance

Regardless of the city, the insurance of taxi drivers who work full-time must be provided by the taxi owner or by individuals who rent and operate the taxis under their own name. Employees of commercial taxi licenses must be insured by the owners. In this way, taxi owners or individuals who operate taxis under their own name are responsible for providing all necessary information and documents, such as the employment entry declaration, to the Social Security Institution. However, if a commercial taxi driver is employed without insurance, they can defend their rights by applying to the social security institution or its provincial directorates and can also report their uninsured status to these institutions. In this way, they can access their social security rights as soon as possible. For part-time drivers, meaning those who work for less than 10 days a month, the taxi owners must submit a declaration regarding the insured employee, and the drivers' declarations should also be used for the application. Following this necessary declaration, the owners of public transportation vehicles must have it approved by the drivers' chamber or professional cooperatives they are affiliated with.
