Table Tennis Federation
Table tennis, one of the most widely played sports, is also called ping pong. Developed in England between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this game is played in the United States as well as England with special balls and rackets manufactured with the help of celluloid. It got its name because the ball makes ping-pong sounds when it hits the racket. It started to be played extensively in England after World War I. You can visit the page for detailed information.
Table Tennis Playing Area and Materials Used
The Ping Pong Association was established in 1902 with a federation-style structure and was later dissolved in 1905. It was then re-established in 1920 under the name Table Tennis Association. The federation, which materialized as the International Table Tennis Federation in 1926, has continued to the present day. The table has specified dimensions. Additionally, due to the nature of the game, the table must be placed in a spacious and comfortable area. During championships, there is at least a 6-meter distance between tables, and the longitudinal distance is 12 m. A net is stretched across the middle of the table, and the net is 12 cm high. The diameter of the hollow balls made of celluloid and plastic material is 40 mm. The rackets have a rough surface.
